Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Health Scientist / Industrial Hygienist/Epidemiologist to support occupational and environmental health projects and scientific research. The successful candidate will conduct comprehensive literature reviews, evaluate scientific evidence, summarize technical and legal documents, and perform field investigations.
This position is ideal for a scientist who enjoys combining rigorous scientific analysis with real-world exposure assessment and litigation support.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Research & Literature Review
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of peer-reviewed scientific, medical, toxicological, epidemiological, and industrial hygiene literature.
- Critically evaluate study quality, methodologies, findings, and limitations.
- Prepare written summaries and technical reports for internal teams, clients, and scientific experts.
- Identify and synthesize scientific evidence related to occupational and environmental exposures.
Litigation & Expert Support
- Review and summarize deposition transcripts, discovery materials, medical records, and technical documents.
- Develop concise summaries of testimony, case facts, and scientific evidence for attorneys and expert witnesses.
- Assist in preparing expert reports, rebuttal analyses, declarations, and presentation materials.
- Research regulatory, scientific, and historical issues relevant to litigation matters.
- Maintain organized case files and document databases.
Industrial Hygiene & Field Services
- Perform workplace exposure assessments and occupational health investigations.
- Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring, including sampling for airborne contaminants, dust, noise, chemicals, and other occupational hazards.
- Evaluate workplace processes, controls, and safety practices.
- Participate in site inspections and field studies.
- Analyze monitoring data and prepare technical reports with findings and recommendations.
- Coordinate field activities with clients, laboratories, and project teams.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Interpret industrial hygiene, epidemiological, and environmental data.
- Create tables, figures, exposure summaries, and technical presentations.
- Support quantitative and qualitative exposure assessments.
- Assist with regulatory compliance reviews and risk assessments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Environmental Health, Toxicology, Occupational Health, Epidemiology, Environmental Science, or related scientific field.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in occupational health, industrial hygiene, consulting, research, or litigation support.
- Strong scientific writing and technical communication skills.
- Experience conducting literature reviews and translating complex scientific information into concise summaries.
- Ability to review and summarize lengthy technical documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel for field investigations and client site visits.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, Toxicology, Epidemiology, or related field.
- Professional certifications such as:
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
- Experience supporting litigation or expert witness engagements.
- Knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, EPA, and other environmental and occupational health regulations.
- Experience with exposure assessment, risk assessment, or epidemiology.
